About

Ash (Ashley) Limés Castellana is a printmaker and multimedia artist residing in Philadelphia, PA. She’s the first-generation American daughter of Cuban immigrants, and was raised in the sunshine of Miami, FL.

Her artistic practice seeks to promote a connection with ourselves and the natural world by creating environments using the language of architecture and geology. In response to her urban alienation from nature, she uses excursions to protected lands, research of geological features, as well as studies of ancient architecture and Eastern art, to begin her inquiries. Through drawing and printmaking, Ash reduces the landscape to specific components in order to encourage focused attention and provide a tool for self reflection.

Ash is a currently a University Fellow and graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture at Temple University’s, Tyler School of Art and Architecture. She was formerly the Museum Education Coordinator at the Fabric Workshop and Museum, Coordinator and Educator at Second State Press; and youth art Educator at the Philadelphia Museum of Art .
